sorry to all of you who are eagerly expecting the native unit, I am still painting them. they are a nice bunch but the old Airfix plastic is not kind to my paint.
but lets get on with showing off my snipers for the National forces. they are a strong bunch these guys ready to stay in one spot for days if necessary. they were a bit of a pain because I tried to do a cool camo pattern which started off with a was which my artist paint plastic hated and wrinkled when it was applied. so I had to compensate. so here they are.

the roof tops are normally the last place you want to be when the hinds are hovering but for these men this is home |
|
nobody told them that it is totally unnecessary to have 5 snipers in one spot |
|
but as they say the more the merrier. I have no clue who said that but if I was a rebel I would prefer only 1 sniper to be there |
|
well here is a single sniper as you can see no recognisable camouflage pattern, this is due a) to the fact Oronegro cannot look like all the other nations for games and because I cannot achieve those patterns with my paints |
|
this is odd... he appears to be on a giant table |
there you guys go. these figs were a mix of figs sent to me by David and Dobromir. and to all the rest of you have a nice time. I am on holiday and relaxing though my figure paining has dropped off due to my friend staying here and my current homework dilemma.
I like them and the Barret .50 cal is a beauty!
ReplyDeleteAny progress is good progress Gowan, they look fine.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Airfix plastic wash the figures in warm soapy water, let them dry then mix some warm water with PVA (50/50) glue and dip them in and leave to dry.
A film will be attached to the figures allowing the paint to apply with ease, and it will stop chipping.
Model on!
thanks for the tip I will be sure to use it in future. they are going well so far only a few things left to do. I am sure that soon I'll have the first ones done
DeleteThose are very handy figures, Gowan, and deserve special treatment. Paul's suggestion is the go, all right!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Ion
what paints are you using? i have also done the PVA coat and it works!!your imagination is inspiring!
ReplyDeletestandard artist paints. with a few hobby master and tamiya paints thrown in for good luck ;-)
DeleteVery nice Gowan. PVA is certainly the way to go.
ReplyDeleteVery nice work again. These are a lovely pose; with a little effort the rifle can be converted to a reasonable heavy MG. I pity anyone on the street below, 5 .50 cal bullets would be devastating!
ReplyDeletethanks, I don't suppose I'll be doing some gun conversions just yet. I might follow your example and use a mix of revell figs however... how far back can I go fig wise? because if I want a plastic fig shooting an M-60 I need to go right back to the esci figs. or should I just go metal
DeleteESCI is the easiest way. Although there are other options: Pegasus Vietnam US has one firing M-60 in addition to three more running figs with separate arms with M-60s which can be glued to a Caesar torso. But yes the ESCI set is the best option (and remember Mars has a cheaper reissue). Though the Viet set may have some other useful parts
Deletethanks Ben. Oronegro may build British tanks but I really like to give it that US look when it comes to the infantry.
DeleteGood work Gowan!
ReplyDelete(for me, the paint looks always too glossy, but .....)
for the camo, I'm not a specialist, but if it's only a question of brushes... I use some good artists acrylic ones and they work perfectly!)
Great stuff Gowan, nice figures
ReplyDeleteThey look real nice Gowan!
ReplyDeleteFive snipers on one roof? Overkill! :-D
Greetings
